A Netflix original television comedy series.
The “surreal and absurd” series centers around the family life of Miranda Sings, a sheltered, self-absorbed, overconfident and untalented young performer who seeks fame on YouTube.
Hello, my name is Garry M.B. Smith. I am an internationally recognized film and television editor having worked on a diverse range of projects; the most recent being “Spides” a sci-fi series for NBC/Universal shot and edited in Berlin starring Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (Game of Thrones), a comedy/drama feature film “Butter’s Final Meal” starring Mira Sorvino, and the hit comedy series for Netflix,” HATERS BACK OFF!” starring Colleen Ballinger.
I was born in Glasgow, Scotland and educated in England. I later immigrated to Vancouver, Canada where I began my career as a first assistant for Universal studios, Columbia Pictures, then to MGM. I quickly made the leap becoming an editor with the Showtime feature “The Limbic Region” starring Edward James Olmos.
Having edited a wide variety of genres from action, drama, comedy, horror, science fiction and fantasy in numerous formats; features, TV series, pilots, television movies, documentary and animation has made me very well-versed in what is needed for the artistic and technical aspects of post-production with its specific requirements.
I have won an NAACP Award for Best TV Movie or Miniseries for the critically acclaimed “Sins of the Mother” starring Jill Scott and Nicole Beharie and nominated for Best Feature Length Editing for “Twist of Faith” starring Toni Braxton, “Paper Moon Affair”, “Pressure” and Best Foreign Film nomination from Los Angeles International Film Festival, the dark comedy “Seven Storeys”. My television credits have consistently garnered many network’s highest ratings.
My personal exploration of the world has led to many adventures across many continents; traversing Africa from west to east via the Sahara Desert, driving extensively through North and Central America, immersed in the archipelago of Indonesia, traveling throughout SE Asia and Europe. History is of great interest to me along with the diversity of other cultures and their stories.
I’m a member of IATSE 700 (MPEG) & 891, ACFC West and The National Academy of Television Arts & Science. I have both Canadian and U.K. passports and am a resident of Los Angeles
