Garry M.B. Smith is an internationally acclaimed film editor with over 20 years of post-production experience. His work has won numerous awards at international screening showcases and is aired on major television networks across North America and the rest of the world.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and educated in England, he immigrated to Canada where he received a degree in filmmaking and started editing super 8 movies in his bedroom. In the 1990’s he began his professional editing career as an assistant in the film industry for Universal studios, Columbia Pictures, then to MGM. Where he and made the leap becoming an editor himself.
Garry has edited in a wide variety of genres from Action, Drama, Comedy, Horror to Science Fiction and Fantasy in numerous formats: Features, TV Series, Pilots, MOW’s, Documentary, TV Magazine Shows, Music Videos, Trailers, and Animation. This has made him extremely versatile; understanding of what is needed in the handling of every project and all its requirements.
When not in the cutting room, Garry’s other interests have lead him to travelling throughout North and Central America, across Africa by land, Indonesia, S.E. Asia, and throughout Europe. He loves history and the diversity of other cultures with their stories, which adds perspective into the art of storytelling on a universal level that brings a deeper understanding to a project.

Garry is a member of IATSE 700 (MPEG) ACFC West and The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
He has both Canadian and U.K passports, and is a resident of Los Angeles.
